Artist
Maria
Reyes-Jones

The paintings and prints of award winning
artist Maria
Reyes-Jones
can be found in public and private collections throughout the
United States and Europe. Always versatile, Maria works in several
areas of subject matter at the same time. The Palm trees of her home state
of Florida were the inspiration for a group of prints and paintings
based on the many moods of her favorite tree. "Scenes from the Road"
are works inspired by the frequent she takes now and as a child
growing up in a peripatetic military family. On a more humorous
note are the prints and paintings of the "Dog and Cat Series". These were inspired
by her love of animals, especially her own two dogs, Bella and
Igor. There is also a body of work that is of a more personal
nature. These paintings involve a layering of surface and image
to create a complex and often ambiguous meaning -- she says "they
have a little bit of mystery in them questions left unanswered
-- leaving space for the viewer to enter, and respond from their
own life experience."
