Tim Gerst was born December 16th, 1966 in Cleveland, Ohio. A self-taught
painter, Tim paints bold strokes with a reckless abandon and little
regard for convention or realism, combining a northern rust belt
flavor with a south Floridian's wave of vivid color.
The urban environment
inner city streets of the large south Florida city where he lives
and works provides both inspiration and actual raw material for
his provocative images. Tim uses reclaimed materials such as cardboard,
paper bags, scrap plywood and paper to tell his story, painting
what the cityscape and people have to offer his fertile mind.
Tim's style reflects a distinctly abstract and modern influence.
His art expresses an alternative view of reality - one with few
borders or limitations.
Tim moved to Florida
in 1986, continuing his search for greater contrasts of life.
He is an active member of the "AOA" - Alternative Online
Artist and his paintings are included in numerous private and
public collections throughout the World.
If you meet Tim Gerst in the streets of a
South Florida city watch out! By his own admission, you
may end up a subject of one of his paintings!
