Kellie Lefever
Kellie was born and
raised in Burlington Vermont. When she noticed that her sister
really enjoyed her elective college photography, she thought it
could be an entertaining hobby to investigate some day herself.
After high school Kellie decided to migrate
to a more tropically comfortable environment and settled in the
beautiful and verdant Florida Keys. While trying to decide what
to do with her life there, Kellie remember her vow and began taking photography
classes in college. She admits that after just one class, she knew photography
was her calling.
After studying
photography and wild life in the Keys, Kellie moved to Daytona Beach to seriously
advance her skills under the mentorship of Steve Williams who
helped her craft and perfect her unique photographic style. While
still a student, a recommendation by Eric Breitenbach, another
of her instructors who recognized her talents, led to jobs freelancing
for Orlando
Magazine.
While doing "shoots" for the magazine, Kellie photographed the
rich and famous, the not-so rich and infamous, as well as tourists,
rock stars, public events and other various sorts of urban "wild
life" in the peripatetic city. With her career launched,
the versatile photographer moved Fort Lauderdale to chronicle
the uniquely South-Floridian people, animals and diverse landscape
in her unorthodox, yet compassionate and understanding style.
Meticulous to detail, Kellie makes every shoot
as if it were for the front cover of Rolling Stones Magazine.
When Kellie shoots portraits,
she particularly loves to photograph people with their pets, capturing
that unique intimacy between the owner and their special 'friend'.
In addition to commission work and art photography, the versatile
Lefever also freelances for publications such as City Link Magazine. Kellie has shown in various
exhibitions, her art photography is featured by RaZoO GaLLeRy in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
By Lefever's own admission,
she wants to show the public the limitless artistic possibilities
of photography, while providing a service. Hers is not your ordinary,
monotonous '"J.C.Penney portrait" that we've all remember
from our youth. In her work, she brings even the simplest themes to life
by contrasting them with abstract aesthetic ideas focused through
her keen wit.
